yay
bought the last volume of suikoden III and at last after ... 5 years of not fully understanding Luc's intention ... now i do ^^ HAHAHHAA
so basically the story goes like this :
as we know that Luc and Sasarai are Hikusaak's clone, they were created for a purpose which is to carry the two elemental true runes, True Wind and True Earth which somehow Hikusaak had the possession of both runes
however, Luc was a "failure" because the True Wind Rune is entangled in his heart which will result in him being absorbed by the rune itself ... scary huh
back to the story, Sasarai was then raised under the fullest care from the temple and Luc on the other hand, being locked in a cell behind it
Sasarai was told not to get near the filthy place and of course the boy who was jailed inside it as well
time goes by andLuc who was still a kid had almost given up and this was when Leknaat appeared
she asked him whether he wanted to live as a human, normal human being and Luc did acept her 'invitation'
they then lived at the Island of Seer or watever is it called .. i forgot :P haha and of course during that time, Sarah lived wth them as well
Leknaat then assigned Luc a task which was to keep an eye on the stone of tablet for the Liberation Army which was fighting the Imperial Army of Toran ... this is suikoden 1
Luc saw how a son fought his father, how many lives were lost during the burning of the elf tree, how a teenager's life was completely changed to the worst .. and this was all because of a true rune
Leknaat again, assigned him a same task but this time, Luc witnessed the Dunan Unification War where two best friends fought each other's army, a devil's mad actions as well as thousands of people being devoured by beasts .. again, a rune caused everything
Luc whose life was determined by a true rune felt that the existence of true runes will only bring destruction for human being and so he decided to destroy them
however, with the fact that true runes govern the world, if even one of them being destroyed, the world balance will collapse and huge explosion may occur
this also explains why Yuber who sides the Chaos gave his aid to Luc who want to destroy the world balance of Order ...
moreover, the vision which every true runes bearer will see, this is about how the world will be destroyed one day, finalised Luc's decision to act his illegal and risky action to destroy the pillars which hold the world's balance
Yuber knew how .. which was by using the ancient and powerful weapon located in Grassland which was left by the Sindar
however, using this weapon inside the Ceremonial Ground will cost the whole entire Grassland to explode
and this is when Albert Silverberg agreed to share his intelligence to Luc .. his plan was to create a war between Harmonia and Grassland and this will force the Grasslanders to seek refuge to other continent and they will be saved from the gigantic explosion which may occur while using the weapon
so ... in conslusion, Luc is not that evil
his only mistake ... or it may not be called as mistake ... is just to make Grassland as a tiny sacrifice for the whole entire world's good
so, who is at the disadvantage in the end of the story ?
is it Luc or the entire human population ?
Luc tried to free them from the curse of the true runes which spark wars and in the end, they will cause the world's destruction
but he was stopped by the grasslanders who foolishly and selfishly do not want to sacrifice their homeland
so who did the wrong thing ?
i cant answer the question myself ...
so suikoden iii is about many things that human beings feel
patriotism
selfishness
determination
sacrifice
hatred
revenge
well, if you are Luc what will you do
and if you are Chris, Hugo or Geddoe, what will you do
that volumes really make me love suikoden 3 even more
hahhaa
