living bleach
watched Bleach the movie : Memories of Nobody last weekend which tells the story of an outcasted shinigami clan who seeks revenge by eliminating the transition work within the earth and soul society which results in the destruction of both
the shinigami clan leader whose name i cant remember, needs the help of Blanks, which are souls who have lost their memories as well as the memories themselves. There are many many many Blanks which constitutes the transition world itself thus their emmories altogether merges into one, forming a new memory which appears as Senna, a shinigami who suddenly appears on eath
in order to avoid further spoilers, i will only talk about Senna. Being a collection of memories, Senna is not real, neither does she exist. She has no past, future and some may argue that she doesnt have any present as well. Her role is merely to carry all the memoriesof Blanks and nothing else. Dot.
However, due to the clashes of millions of memories within her, she tends to get imaginations of her past. In the movie, she remembers vaguely her father and her death.
Towards the end of the movie, Senna usd her left-over power to stop the clash between the earth and soul soceity by balancing back the transition world. before she fully dissappears, she asks Ichigo to carry her to her grave. She points out thw the directions but Ichigo can't see her name written on the tombstone.
But Ichigo tells her that her name is on it. She smiles and dissappear.
Senna reminds me of the importance of one's existence. Somehow this relates well to the philosophy of existentialism. To exist is to have identity. To have identity, is to live. Senna wants to live. She wants to believe that she had a life before her, altouh the truth is, she didn't. How about us. We exist for the sake of living. I rarely thank God for creating me, while spirits/people/things/watever like Senna struggles so much to exist.
I have also most of the time, take my existance for granted. Moreover, many times I even forget that I 'exist'. Doing meaningless things, satisfying my own needs, wasting resources. I can do more than that. My existance in this earth is more meaningful and useful than what I have always been believing in.
Senna is contented to hear that she lived. Will I ?
My existance is undoubtable ( I believe that :) ) but I have not made full use of it. Senna reminds me of my existane, and of course everyone's who have watched the movie. Senna is surreal but she can appreciate life more than we, who are real do. So what I have learnt from Bleach, is to live. A simple word indeed, but it means more than it looks.
